Automatic Gate Installation & Gate Automation
Our electric gate installation service covers new automatic driveway gates, including sliding and swing designs, as well as suitable existing gates that can be upgraded with automation. We assess the entrance before recommending a residential gate system. The gate, posts, hinges or track, motor position, power supply, safety devices and access controls all need to work as one system.
Whether the best fit is a sliding gate or a swing gate, the process begins with an on-site measure so the design and operation can be considered properly before fabrication.

Gate solutions
The right movement, access and finish
Every entrance is different. We assess the site first, then recommend a gate and automation approach suited to the available space and the way you use the property.
01
Sliding gate automation
Sliding gates are often practical where there is room beside the driveway for the gate to travel. Compared with a swing gate, a sliding driveway gate generally avoids needing a large inward or outward swing area, but requires suitable side clearance, track or cantilever arrangements, and ground conditions. Outlook’s fabricated sliding-gate frames typically use a 100 × 50 mm bottom runner with 50 × 50 mm frame members; the gate is sized beyond the clear opening to provide overlap, with the automation tail and wheel positions resolved from the finished layout.
02
Swing gate automation
Single or paired swing gates can create a traditional or architectural entrance where driveway space, levels and opening clearances allow. Compared with a sliding gate, a swing driveway gate needs a clear opening arc and suitable posts and hinges; steep driveways, limited depth or obstacles can make this option less practical. For many residential swing gates the starting frame specification is 30 × 30 mm galvanised steel, with 50 × 50 mm available where size, cladding or wind loading calls for a heavier frame. Final member sizes are confirmed for the individual opening.
03
Access and control options
We work with trusted FAAC, Nice and Beninca automation systems, selected to suit the gate weight, movement and expected use. Remotes, keypads, intercoms, smartphone or GSM access, safety beams, manual release and battery-backup options can then be planned around the way residents, visitors and trades enter the property.

New gates and upgrades
Planning a new entrance or considering automation for an existing gate? We can inspect the site and explain what is practical before quoting.

Designed as one project
Your gate should belong with the fence and home
Modern, traditional, open or private—the gate design can be coordinated with the surrounding fence, pedestrian access and the character of the property.
At the measure, we look beyond the gate opening so the quote reflects the real site rather than a one-size-fits-all product.
✓ Gate style, materials, colour and level of privacy
✓ Driveway width, levels and opening clearances
✓ Pedestrian access and connection to adjoining fencing
✓ Automation position, access needs and manual release planning

Common questions
Automatic gate FAQs
A site measure is the best way to confirm what will work, but these answers cover the usual starting points.
Should I choose a sliding gate or a swing gate?
For a swing vs sliding gate comparison, start with the space available: sliding gates need room beside the driveway, while swing gates need a clear opening arc. Driveway slope, pedestrian access, wind exposure, posts and the preferred appearance also matter. We assess these conditions on site and recommend a practical option for the property.
Can my existing driveway gate be automated?
Often an automatic gate can be added to an existing manual driveway gate, but not every gate is suitable. The gate, hinges or track, posts, clearances, safety requirements and general condition need to be checked first. We can inspect the existing setup and explain whether an upgrade is sensible.
What happens during the free measure?
We review the entrance, take measurements and discuss the look, movement and access you need. This gives us the information required to prepare a project-specific quote.
Can you supply the gate, fencing and automation together?
Yes. Planning the entrance as one project helps the gate, surrounding fence and automation work together visually and practically. See our front and feature fencing options.
How long will the project take?
Timing varies with the design, fabrication requirements, site preparation and current scheduling. We will outline the expected process and timing with your quote.
